Australia allows payment by BTC at the post office, Venezuela is testing the passport payment in BTC

VakaFX invites readers to follow the article “Australia allows payment by BTC at the post office, Venezuela is testing the passport payment in BTC”

Australia allows payment in Bitcoin at post offices

Australians can now pay with Bitcoin at post offices nationwide thanks to the new partnership.

According to the June 24 announcement, customers of the local exchange Bitcoin.com.au will be able to pay in Bitcoin at more than 3,500 Post Offices in Australia.

Holger Arians, the company's CEO, explained that he believes the new payment option will make some people more comfortable buying cryptocurrencies:

“For many people, paying with Bitcoin at the Post Office feels safer than transferring money online, especially for first-time buyers. We are proud of this partnership and thank the Australia Post for their continued openness with new technologies.”

Bitcoin.com.au customers can now pay Bitcoin at 1,500 retail stores in the Blueshyft payment network.

Venezuela tested BTC for passport payment

The Venezuelan government quickly allowed passport applicants to pay in Bitcoin this week. This option has been seen on SAIME, Venezuela's administrative service for identification, migration and for foreigners.

A number of social media users have revealed this feature through screenshots.

Venezuela tested BTC for passport payment

Bitcoin payment confirmation takes about eight minutes, based on user reports. Such payments have been accepted through the BTCPay Server Payment Processor. It seems that the option was launched due to credit card payment suspension, although this may be an unrelated event.

Bitcoin payments appear to have been deleted just hours after the introduction, according to user reports.

Moreover, Venezuelan journalist Marbellis Linares denied that the payment option was actually available, saying that it was not working, the information was false. However, this statement contradicts the fact that screenshots of ongoing payments are circulating online.

Some users also claim that this option is never available to Venezuelan users, only for foreign users who are applying for an external passport.
